The Maxwell holiday basketball tournament will come to its conclusion today. The tournament was originally to be played Monday and Tuesday of this week but the opening round got pushed back to Tuesday because of bad weather and road conditions. South Loup (Arnold/Callaway) will play in both the girls and boys championship games today. The South Loup girls defeated Sandhills Valley (Stapleton/McPherson County) in the opening round Tuesday 59-18 while the South Loup boys advanced with a 71-44 win over Sandhills Valley. Today’s action will begin with Sandhills Valley taking on Brady in the girls consolation game at noon followed by the boys consolation between Maxwell and Sandhills Valley. Then it will be the girls championship between South Loup and Maxwell and the day will conclude with Brady meeting South Loup for the boys championship.
