South Loup has Strong Showing at C8 District Track

South Loup was among the teams that competed at the C8 district track championships at Southern Valley on Thursday. The South Loup girls finished 2nd in the team standings behind Kearney Catholic. Jessie Sallach claimed the district title in both the girls shot put and discus to qualify for the state track championships in Omaha next week. South Loup also won the girls 4×100 meter relay in a winning time of 51.99. Jadeyn Bubak qualified for state in both the 100 and 200 meter dash and Taylor Conroy qualified in the girls long jump.

The South Loup boys finished third in the team standings behind Kearney Catholic (1st) and Cambridge (2nd). Kalen Dockweiler was the district champion in both the boys 800 and 1600 meter run and was also a member of the 4×800 meter relay that placed first. Cole Gracey also claimed a district title by winning the boys pole vault with a height of 11’8″. Other automatic state qualifiers for the Bobcats included Blake Brown in the 400, Cooper Taylor in the 3200, and Drew Vickers in the 110 meter hurdles.
