In games broadcast on KBBN 95.3 FM Friday night, the South Loup girls and boys basketball teams each picked up wins over the Mullen Broncos in a doubleheader played at Callaway high school. The girls game was a defensive low scoring affair. South Loup led 15-11 at halftime but outscored Mullen 13-6 in the 3rd quarter and then held on for a 36-25 victory. Jessie Sallach of South Loup led all scorers with 17 points. In the boys game, South Loup outscored Mullen 34-21 in the second half to pull away for a 62-42 win. It was a balanced offensive attack for the Bobcats as four players finished in double figures including Jack Rush and Kalen Dockweiler with 13 while Cade and Jace Connell each added 11. Tell Spies of Mullen led all scorers with 16 for the Broncos.
The top 2 seeds will meet one another for the Lou-Platte Conference boys tournament title Saturday at Centura. The top seed Arcadia/Loup City advanced with a semifinal win over St. Paul Friday night 51-48 and #2 seed Ravenna edged Doniphan/Trumbull 60-58. The Rebels and Bluejays have met once already this year with ALC winning on a last second shot. The top two seeds will also meet in the girls championship game today as undefeated and top seed Ord will face #2 seed Ravenna.
