Sandhills/Thedford claimed the D2-5 girls basketball district championship Friday night in Gothenburg as the Lady Knights defeated Maywood Hayes Center in a low scoring affair 27-18. S/T was led by Marlee Taylor who scored 20 of the Lady Knights 27. After the first weekend in February, Sandhills/Thedford was 6-11. But now they have won 4 in a row and continued their dramatic run in the post season on Friday by securing an automatic bid to the girls state tournament in Lincoln which begins on Thursday.
The Burwell Lady Longhorns have advanced to the girls state tournament in Class C2. Burwell claimed the C2-5 district championship with a 38-31 win over Cambridge.
