Results of D6 District Track and Field Championships

The Class D6 District Track and Field Championships were held Wednesday (5/9) at Mark Russell Field in Broken Bow. Shelton claimed the boys team championship with 111 points followed by Ansley-Litchfield in second with 101 points and Twin Loup finished 3rd with 71 points. The girls team title went to Pleasanton with 104 points followed by Elm Creek with 93 points and Ansley-Litchfield was 3rd with 86 points. Several area athletes qualified for the state meet in Omaha next week. Chris Paitz and Justin Bailey of Ansley-Litchfield each qualified in 3 individual events. Paitz qualified in the boys triple jump, 110 meter hurdles, and 300 meter hurdles. Bailey qualified in the boys high jump, 110 meter hurdles, and 300 meter hurdles. Others who qualified for the Spartans include : Falan Ryan (girls pole vault and shot put) ; Alyssa Bailey (girls triple jump and high jump) ; Hunter Arehart (boys pole vault) ; Trent Scott (3200 meter run) ; Sarah Lewis (100 meter hurdles and 300 meter hurdles) ; Taylor Stark (100 meter hurdles).

Twin Loup will send all three of their boys relay teams to state. The team of Colby and Cooper Coons, Hunter Kraus, and Alex Horky won both the 4×400 and 4×800 meter relays. Colby and Cooper Coons then teamed with Meek and Jibril Harris to win the 4×100 meter relay. Other state qualifiers for the Wolves included : Colby Coons (boys 800 meter run) ; Cali Van Diest (girls 1600 meter run) ; Alex Horky (boys pole vault and long jump)

Anselmo-Merna qualified two athletes for next week’s state meet. Alexis Zimmer qualified in the girls high jump and Cameron Gibson qualified in the boys 400. Sara Ripp of SEM qualified for state in the girls high jump.
