Quarterfinals of the D1, D2 Playoffs Today

The 2019 NSAA State Football playoffs continue today with the quarterfinal round in classes D1 and D2. Arcadia/Loup City will travel out to Benkelman for a showdown with Dundy County Stratton today. It’s been an impressive showing in the playoffs for the Rebels so far with wins over Alma (68-32) in the first round and winning over previously unbeaten Sutherland (72-14) in round two. ALC is averaging 236 yards rushing and 126 yards passing per game this season. The Rebels have won 9 in a row after dropping their season opener to Fullerton. Arcadia/Loup City thought they may get a rematch with Fullerton in the playoffs but that won’t happen because Dundy County Stratton knocked off the West’s #2 seed last week 20-18. DCS is 9-1 with their only loss coming to the top seed in the west bracket, Cambridge. The Tigers are all about running the ball averaging 337 rushing yards per game and only passing for an average of 30 yards per game. Today’s game is scheduled for a 5pm central time kickoff and will be broadcast live on KBBN 95.3 FM and on kbbn.com The winner of today’s game will advance to the D1 semifinals on Monday and play the winner of today’s quarterfinal between Cambridge and Burwell. That game will be played in Burwell with a 4pm kickoff time. Today’s other D1 quarterfinal matchups feature Howells-Dodge vs Osceola-High Plains and Tri County vs. Cross County.

The Twin Loup Wolves continue their run today through the Class D2 playoff bracket. After wins against Axtell and Mullen in the first two rounds, Twin Loup is on the road today to face the Pleasanton Bulldogs. Pleasanton defeated Brady in the opening round (56-34) and knocked of the #2 seed in the west bracket, Kenesaw, in round 2 27-14. Today’s game is scheduled to kickoff at 6pm. The winner will advance to the D2 semifinals and play the winner of today’s Overton / Central Valley game. The other D2 quarterfinals today feature Humphrey St. Francis vs Plainview and Falls City Sacred Heart vs Bloomfield.
