Omaha World Herald Released Final Boys Basketball Rankings – Mullen #5 in Class D2

Stu Pospisil of the Omaha World Herald released his final boys high school basketball rankings for the season. The Mullen Broncos are ranked #5 in the final Class D2 poll. Mullen qualified for the state tournament for the third time in the last four years. The Broncos defeated St. Mary’s of O’Neill in the opening round of the state tournament 51-49 but then fell to Humphrey St. Francis in the semifinals and fell short against Parkview Christian in the 3rd place consolation game. Mullen ended the season at 22-7 overall. State champion Falls City Sacred Heart was #1 in the final D2 poll followed by Humphrey St. Francis #2, Parkview Christian #3, and Johnson-Brock #4. Southwest Conference member Ogallala was ranked #2 in the final poll in Class C1. The Indians moved up to the #2 spot with an appearance in the state championship game. Ogallala edged Kearney Catholic in the opening round of the state tournament then knocked off top seed Adams Central in the semifinals before falling to Auburn in the championship game. Auburn was #1 in the final C1 poll with Adams Central #3, Lincoln Christian #4 and Kearney Catholic was fifth to round out the top 5. Southern Valley’s run to the D1 championship game moved them up to #2 in the final poll behind champion Laurel Concord Coleridge. Complete rankings for all classes are listed below.
