NSAA Makes Changes to 2021 State Basketball Format

The Nebraska Schools Activities Association voted unanimously to hold this year’s girls and boys basketball tournaments in Lincoln.  Because of COVID-19, there was talk about possibly relocating the tournament for this year.  While the tournament will be played in Lincoln, the layout for the tournament has changed.  Contributing to the change is the fact that the Devaney Center in Lincoln will not be available to host state tournament games this year because of Nebraska volleyball.  Instead of a 3 day tournament, it will now take place over five days.  The girls tournament will take place March 2-6 and the boys tournament will be played between March 9-13.  The games will be played at Pinnacle Bank Arena and various Lincoln High Schools.  According to the Omaha World Herald, two opening round games in Class B and four in Class A will be played at Pinnacle Bank Arena on Tuesday.  Wednesday will be two Class B and four Class C-1 games at PBA with Class C-2 through D-2 games at three Lincoln high schools.   Semifinals will be Thursday at Pinnacle Bank Arena for Classes C-2, D-1 and D-2 and Friday for Classes A, B and C-1.  Finals will be at PBA on Saturday.
