Ratings comments — Class A: Lots of losses, but no movement. All but one of the teams in the ratings lost since the last rankings — Lincoln Southeast is the exception. A pair of teams with sub-.500 records made pushes for the ratings but just missed. Lincoln Pius X beat Papio South and Lincoln Southwest in a span of three days, but followed that up with back-to-back losses, including one to the other team that challenged for ratings consideration, Lincoln East.

Class B: A shakeup at the top after Elkhorn South won four matches in seven days to take the Metro Conference tournament. The Storm replace Skutt at the top after the SkyHawks fell 2-1 to Gretna on Tuesday. Two more conference tournaments next week — Eastern Midlands and River Cities — each have three ranked teams and major ratings implications. Two other ranked teams will meet Friday when Hastings visits Columbus to decide the Greater Nebraska Athletic Conference tournament.

Ratings comments

Class A: Despite a shootout loss to Elkhorn South on Tuesday, Westside moves to the top on the strength of last week’s Metro Conference title. The Warriors beat Omaha South for the crown. Millard South joins the fray after winning five straight and eight of nine — three of which came over teams that spent time in the ratings. Included in that was a 2-1 overtime win over Bryan.

Class B: After top-ranked Elkhorn South there was plenty of shifting in the ratings. Skutt’s slide was exaggerated after falling 3-0 to Gretna on Tuesday. Columbus stays put despite four losses — all to teams in the Class A ratings. Mount Michael’s four losses all have come by a single score to teams ahead of it in the ratings. Blair joins the mix, replacing a Norris team that the Bears beat Monday night.
