Nebraska High School Rodeo Spring Season Underway

The Nebraska High School Rodeo Spring Season is underway. Rodeo performances were held this past Saturday (Southwest #1) and Sunday (Southwest #2) in McCook. Several area cowboys and cowgirls were among the competitors. Here are some of the area highlights. Ty Bass of Brewster won the boys cutting at both Southwest #1 and #2. Bass placed first at Southwest #1 with a score of 73 and had the top score at Southwest #2 with a 73.5. Mable McAbee of Ansley placed first at Southwest #1 in breakaway roping with a time of 2.6 seconds. Brody McAbee of Ansley had the top ride in the saddle broncs on Saturday with a 72 point score and Cauy Pokorny of Stapleton teamed with Clay Holz of Niobrara to win the team roping on Saturday in a time of 8.85. Chase Miller of Broken Bow won the steer wrestling at Southwest #2 in a winning time of 3.83 seconds.
