Nebraska High School Rodeo Returns with “Practice Rodeos” at Harrison

After most of the spring season had been cancelled because of the coronavirus pandemic, high school rodeo contestants were able to reunite last week for “practice rodeos” at Harrison, NE.  The Panhandle rodeo took place Friday followed by the Harrison rodeo on Saturday.

Cowboys and cowgirls from the KCNI/KBBN coverage area provided some strong performances.  During Friday’s performance, Ashlyn Jensen of Burwell posted the top time in the barrel racing at 18.318.  Arcadia’s Jentri Hurlburt had the top time in the breakaway roping on Friday at 2.78 seconds and Madison Mills of Eddyville was tops in the pole bending with a time of 21.331.

On Saturday, Madison Mills of Eddyville was tops in the barrel racing in a winning time of 18.104 and Taci Flinn of Arcadia posted the top time in the pole bending event at 21.343 seconds.

Contestants will now start to focus on the Nebraska state finals scheduled for June 16-20 in Burwell.  The first performance of the state finals rodeo is scheduled for Thursday June 18 at 10 AM.
