Nebraska high school rodeo contestants competed in Northeast Nebraska this past weekend with rodeos on Saturday and Sunday in Madison, NE. Brooke McCulley of Mullen had a big day on Saturday. McCulley was the girls all around champion Saturday and claimed three event titles in the process. Brooke won the barrel racing in a time of 15.95, breakaway roping in a time of 2.35 seconds, and pole bending in a time of 20.804 seconds. Other area highlights on Saturday included Cody Miller of Broken Bow winning the boys cutting with a score of 73 and Coy Johnston of Stapleton won the steer wrestling in a time of 5.97 seconds.
Among the area highlights Sunday, Frazier Kaelin of Broken Bow won the boys cutting with a score of 73 and Gracyn Hicks of Burwell had a 72 to win the girls cutting. Brody McAbee of Ansley was the saddle bronc champion on Sunday. He was the only competitor with a qualified ride winning the event with a score of 73. Jace Hurlburt of Arcadia teamed with Tate Talkington of Scottsbluff to win the team roping Sunday in a time of 9.03 seconds
