Nebraska High School Rodeo Contestants Compete at Thedford and Stapleton

Nebraska High School Rodeo contestants competed at Thedford this past Saturday and at the Logan/McPherson County rodeo in Stapleton on Sunday. Among the area highlights in Thedford on Saturday, Cooper Bass of Brewster was the champion in the boys cutting with a score of 73. Emma Pearson of Broken Bow won the pole bending Saturday in a time of 21.104 seconds. Brody McAbee of Ansley won the title in the saddle broncs with a 79 score and Dane Pokorny of Stapleton posted the winning time in the steer wrestling at 4.37 seconds. In the team roping Saturday, Trey Garey of Broken Bow teamed with Trace Travnicek of Minatare to post the winning time of 7.66 seconds.

On Sunday in Stapleton, an area cowboy and cowgirl won the all around title. Matt Miller of Callaway was the boys all around champion and Madison Mills of Eddyville claimed the girls all around title. Miller won the tie down roping in a time of 10.58 seconds and teamed with Cody Miller of Broken Bow to place 2nd in the team roping. Mills won the barrel racing Sunday in a time of 16.94 seconds and finished third in the pole bending. Brody McAbee had another strong showing in the saddle broncs winning the event with a score of 76.
