Mullen Wins Boys and Girls Team Titles and Anselmo-Merna Girls Take Second at Paxton Track Invite

Mullen and Anselmo-Merna were among the teams that competed Tuesday at the Paxton Track Invite. Mullen and AM went one and two in the girls team standings. The Lady Broncos won the girls team championship with 129 points followed by the Lady Coyotes in second with 103 points. Among the area highlights, Mullen was led by Brooke McCully and Molly Paxton. McCully claimed gold in the 800 meters (2:43.72) and finished second in the 1600 as teammate Molly Paxton got the edge at the finish line with a time of 6:02.18 compared to McCully’s time of 6:03.45. Paxton would then go on to finish second in the girls 3200 meter run. Mullen also received gold medal performances from Samantha Moore in the 100 meter hurdles (16.23) and from Courtney Rice in the shot put (33′).

Victoria Griffith helped lead the Anselmo-Merna girls to a second place team finish. Griffith won both the 100 (13.53), the 200 (28.41) and teamed with Kourtney Safranek, Grace Cantrell, and Alexis Zimmer to win the 4×100 meter relay (54.49). Zimmer also claimed gold in the girls high jump (4′ 10″)

Mullen claimed the boys team title by edging out Sutherland by 5 points. It was another big day for Mullen’s Lane Edis. Edis won the boys long jump (22′ .5″) and the triple jump (40′ 7.25″). Edis also picked up silver medals in the high jump and 100 meter dash. Trevor Kuncl also claimed gold for the Broncos winning the 3200 in a time of 11:25.06. Cass McGinn helped lead the effort for the Anselmo-Merna boys on the day as he finished 2nd in the 300 meter hurdles just 3 hundreths of a second behind the winner Patrick Hansen of Creek Valley.
