Mullen Falls to Maywood Hayes Center in Opening Round of State Volleyball Tournament

The Mullen volleyball team fell to Maywood Hayes Center Thursday in the opening round of the Class D2 state volleyball tournament.  Maywood Hayes Center went on a 7-1 run to close out the opening set of the match as they came back to win the first set 25-23.  MHC then took the 2nd set 25-11.  Mullen would try to fight back in the third but Maywood Hayes Center held on to close it out by a score of 25-22.  Samantha Moore led Mullen with 15 kills and Alli Loughran had 21 set assists.  Mullen concludes the season at 28-6 overall.  Maywood Hayes Center advances to the Class D2 semifinals on Friday where they will face the #2 seed Chambers Wheeler Central.  CWC defeated Wynot 3-1 (25-19, 24-26, 25-19, 25-22).  In the other D2 opening round matches, top seed Diller Odell defeated Nebraska Christian 3-1 (23-25, 25-11, 25-19, 25-10) and Falls City Sacred Heart defeated Humphrey St. Francis 3-1 (23-25, 25-15, 25-22, 25-23)
