Mullen Drops Heartbreaker in Opening Round of State Tournament

The Mullen Lady Broncos fell just short in their bid to collect their first win at the girls state basketball tournament as Bruning Davenport Shickley rallied in the final quarter to come back for a 36-34 win. Mullen led going into the 4th but were outscored 12-4 in the final 8 minutes. One of the story lines was the free throw line where BDS was 12 of 22 for the game while Mullen was just 4 of 11. Mullen was led by Samantha Moore who had a team high 11 points. The Lady Broncos end their season at 21-4. BDS advances to the semifinals where they will meet Wynot who defeated Humphrey St. Francis 45-44. In other D2 action from Thursday, Sterling def. Chambers Wheeler Central 44-37 and Falls City Sacred Heart def. Ewing 58-39.
