The Mullen Lady Broncos advanced to the state volleyball tournament Saturday by claiming the D2-3 district championship. Mullen defeated Crawford in the district final in straight sets 25-9, 25-19, 25-20. The Lady Broncos are now 27-3 on the season and will play in the NSAA Class D2 state volleyball championship tournament in Lincoln beginning Thursday. Mullen will face Chambers Wheeler Central at Lincoln Southeast High School at 7:30.
The South Loup Lady Bobcats saw its season come to an end Saturday at the C2-8 district championship in Greeley. Battle Creek defeated South Loup 3-1 in the district title matchup. It was a tightly contested match with Battle Creek taking the opening set 25-22 but South Loup fought back to tie the match at a set a piece by taking set 2 25-23. Battle Creek was able to win the pivotal 3rd set 25-22 and then closed it out in the 4th 25-16. South Loup finishes the season at 21-10.
