Mother Nature Forces Changes to Area Holiday Tournaments

The winter storm that hit the area hard over the weekend has forced everyone to rearrange plans and change schedules. Holiday basketball tournaments are always a big part of the local sports calendar this time of year and school administrators have been forced to make decisions regarding when and if to play games due to the weather and road conditions. Anselmo-Merna was to play Pleasanton in the boys and girls championship games of the Pleasanton holiday tournament on Saturday. Those were then postponed and moved to Monday but then cancelled due to difficult travel conditions. South Loup and Sandhills Valley are among the teams scheduled to compete at the Maxwell holiday tournament. The opening round of the tournament was scheduled for Monday but now has been pushed back to Tuesday. South Loup will play Sandhills Valley in the opening round of both the girls and boys tournaments. Brady will play the host team Maxwell in the other opening round games. The consolation and championship games are now scheduled to be played on Thursday, January 2nd.
