MNAC Tournament Boys Quarterfinal Results – Girls Second Round Games Tuesday – Coverage on KBBN

The quarterfinals of the Mid Nebraska Activities Conference boys basketball tournament were played on Monday.  In games played at Arnold, the Anselmo-Merna Coyotes pulled away from Sandhills Valley in the second half to post a 69-40 victory and advance into the semifinals on Thursday.  AM had 3 players finish in double figures led by Jace Leibhart who had a game high 20 points.  Wyatt Porter finished with 15 and Clay Brandon finished with 15 for the Coyotes.  AM will play South Loup in the first of the boys semifinals on Thursday in Broken Bow.  The Bobcats held off Sandhills/Thedford 59-45 to advance.  The Knights pulled to within 46-43 late in the game but South Loup finished the game on 13-2 run to secure the win.  South Loup had 3 players finish in double figures led by Grant Jones who had a game high 19, Jace Connell finished with 17, and Eddie Berger had 13.  Sandhills/Thedford was led by Drew McIntosh who had 13 points and Matthew Dailey finished with 12 for the Knights.

On the other side of the bracket, top seed Mullen defeated Cody-Kilgore 56-31 to advance to the semifinals.  The Broncos will face Hyannis who edged Brady in a thriller 54-52.

The Mid Nebraska Activities Conference basketball tournament continues Tuesday with 2nd round girls games to be played in Mullen and Callaway.  The Mullen Lady Broncos are the top seed in this year’s girls tournament and will host Sandhills Valley at 7 p.m. (central).  Prior to that, Anselmo-Merna will play Arthur County in Mullen at 5:30 (central).

South Loup is the #2 seed and they will host games in Callaway Tuesday.  The action there begins with Cody-Kilgore meeting Twin Loup at 5:30 followed by South Loup against Brady.  Tuesday’s 2nd round games from Callaway will be broadcast on KBBN 95.3 FM and kbbn.com
