Mid Nebraska League American Legion Seniors Championship Game Today

The championship game of the Mid Nebraska League American Legion Seniors tournament will take place today.  Because of the coronavirus pandemic, there is no sanctioned area or state tournaments being played this year.  The Mid Nebraska League, which includes Broken Bow, decided to play a single elimination tournament at the end of the season to help fill that void.  Earlier this month, Shelton-Gibbon claimed the Junior Division League title by defeating Imperial in the championship game 1-0.  Tonight, the Seniors Division League title will be decided.  Ogallala came out of the west side of the bracket.  The top seed in the west advanced to the championship game with wins over Imperial in round 2 and defeated Broken Bow in the west division championship game on Wednesday.  Ogallala will host the east division champion Kearney for the championship.  Kearney entered the east division playoffs as the #6 seed.  Kearney knocked off the #3 seed St. Paul in the opening round, defeated the #2 seed St. Paul in round 2, and then knocked off the east’s top seed Palmer-Wolbach-Greeley on Wednesday 7-3 in the east division championship game.
