Lincoln County Raceway Results – 5/3
Gothenburg wheelman Jamey Kennicutt (15K) battles with Eric Kackmeister (88) for position during IMCA Northern Sport Modified Action on Saturday night at Lincoln County Raceway.

Story by Kelly Ninas

Creating their own storm were the competitors that challenged for supremacy at Lincoln
County Raceway in a jam-packed evening of heated racing action at the Fourth Annual Ron
Williams/Snoose Meyers Memorial Night on Saturday in North Platte, Nebraska.

Starting on the pole and never looking back throughout the whole feature event, Jason
Martin of Lincoln, Nebraska claimed the win in the Lucas Oil, POWRi United Rebel Sprint Series
(URSS) presented by Mel Hambelton Ford Racing Feature event. Martin was able to start his
evening out with a heat race win prior to drawing the ‘one’ chip for the invert and the lineup
remained consistent with the results of the heat races. Martin was able to work through traffic
with gumption to hold off the challenges of runner-up and reigning URSS Season Points
Champion Zach Blurton of Quinter, Kansas. Blurton started the feature event in the second row.
Veteran wheelman Flyin’ Brian Herbert of Kinsley, Kanas was able to take advantage of his third
row starting position to use the cushion to sling-shot his way onto the podium in third place in
front of a hot-footed Shon Pointer of Grand Island in fourth place overall. Darren Berry of
McCook started on the front row along side Martin and was able to jostle for a top five position
for much of the feature event.

No stranger to the winners circle as one of the winningest IMCA Modified pilots, David
Murray Jr, of Oberlin, Kansas was able to add one more IMCA feature win to his total by using
his third row starting position to his advantage in the early going to get into a podium position
prior to garnering the lead by passing early leader Brandon Clough of Wallace on the third lap.
Murray Jr was able to maneuver through traffic with ease to score the Maxwell Offroad Center
IMCA Modified victory. Closing fast and furious during the final laps, Cole Hodges of Ogallala
was able to earn the runner-up accolades after starting in the third row at the drop of the Great
Western Bank Green Flag. After leading the initial laps of the feature event, Brandon Clough
was able to recover quite nicely to take home a third place finish.

Leading the laps that mattered the most, Gothenburg’s Jamey Kennicutt was able to drive to
the lead as the white flag was waved and then led the final two circuits to claim the North
Platte Buick GMC IMCA Northern Sport Modified Feature victory. Recovering quite nicely from
a less than ideal season opener, Eric Kackmeister of North Platte was able to flourish and take
advantage of the opportunity presented by earning runner-up honors after starting on the front
row at the onset of the feature. Methodically working through traffic with grace, Tony Schultz
of North Platte was able to move up and in contention for a podium spot after starting the
feature in the outside of the fourth row. Kennicutt was joined by Paul Donovan of McCook in
winning earlier in the evening heat races.

Putting on a dominating performance in one of the most competitive divisions, the Norton
Nightmare Casey Woken, of Norton, Kansas set sail early and cruised to the Knucklehead
Garage IMCA Stock Car Feature victory. Woken started the feature event on the outside of the
fifth row and was able to drive his way onto the top step of the podium on the seventh lap and
never looked back until he drove past the Coors Distribution Checkered Flag to claim the win.
Hitting the loud pedal with authority during the second half charge to the front, Jeff Whiting of
Gothenburg was able to earn a podium finish in second place overall after starting the feature
in the fourth row. Showing great consistency throughout the feature, Travis Demilt of Ogallala
was able to stay among the leaders for much of the highlighted event to score the third place
finish.

Grabbing the lead while working through lap traffic, Tanner Jones of North Platte was able to
win the dash to the finish in the Herrick Auto & Marine IMCA Hobby Stock Feature. Jones
started the feature event in the third row and was able to work his way into contention and
then make the right choices through lap traffic to garner the lead for the final four laps and a
trip to the winners circle. Leading the way up to relinquishing the point position to Jones was
Nate Refior of Sutton, Nebraska, who lost momentum and needed minor repairs after the lap
11 incident with lap traffic. Following Jones through lap traffic, Jeromy Wagner of Kensington,
Kansas was able to find his way in second place overall in the final laps to finish second overall.
Mr. Consistency Tanner Clough of Wallace, Nebraska saw his continued efforts pay off dearly,
as he earned the third place accolade after starting the feature in the fourth row at the drop of
the Great Western Bank Green Flag.

Getting the early lead, staying in the lead and never looking back was the winning formula
for Quincy Eggleston of Gothenburg in winning the D & S Automotive IMCA Sport Compacts
Feature. Eggleston started the feature on the outside of the second row but was able to garner
the lead on the first lap and never trail throughout the feature event. Coming home in second
place was Kaden Dady of North Platte after he started the feature on pole position and was
able to stay in clean air for much of the feature. Lonnie Lenser Jr of Valentine saw his efforts
pay off with a podium finish in third place overall after he started on the outside of row 3 from
the beginning of the event.
