KBBN Football Game of The Week Preview – South Loup vs Anselmo-Merna

The KBBN football game of the week features a Custer County matchup as South Loup hosts Anselmo-Merna Friday night in Arnold. The Bobcats are 0-2 to start the season after narrowly falling to Hyannis their last time out 14-12. Mat Jagelar is in his second season as head coach of South Loup. One of the obstacles the Bobcats are trying to overcome this year is a shortage in number of players compared to years past. With a smaller roster this year, coach Jagelar told KCNI/KBBN Sports that it has made practices a bit more challenging because they want to try to keep everyone as healthy as possible.

When asked about the strength of this year’s team, coach mentioned the offensive line

Anselmo-Merna picked up its first win of the season last week when they made the long journey out to Hemingford. AM trailed 6-0 at the half but then cranked it up scoring 52 points in the 2nd half to cruise to victory 52-12 and according to coach Matt McGinn made the long trip home a lot more enjoyable. Coach McGinn told Central Nebraska’s Sports Source that the improvement in team chemistry is what has impressed him most as he compares his team from week one of the season to now.

Friday’s South Loup vs Anselmo-Merna game will be broadcast live on KBBN 95.3 FM and on kbbn.com. Coverage begins with the Consolidated Friday Night Lights pregame show at 6 pm. Kickoff for the game is scheduled for 7:30
