Huskerland Prep Report Releases 2018 High School Football Preview Edition

The Huskerland Prep Report has been dedicated to covering high school football across the state of Nebraska. This year the magazine enters its 29th season and has released its annual high school football preview issue. Several area teams appear in this year’s preseason top ten rankings. In Class C1, Gothenburg is pre-season ranked #6. The Swedes will open the season on the road against Chase County on August 24th and will host a showdown with Broken Bow on September 28th. The Arcadia/Loup City Rebels, who competed in Class C2 last year, drop down to 8-man this year and are preseason ranked #2 in Class D1 behind Creighton. Central Nebraska’s Sports Source recently visited with HPR publisher Bob Jensen and he told us that he expects the Rebels to be a strong force in the 8 man ranks this year. Jensen ranks South Loup #8 and Burwell #9 in his D1 preseason poll. The Bobcats and Longhorns join Arcadia/Loup City as well as Amherst, Ansley/Litchfield, and Elm Creek in the D1-8 district setting it up to be one of the most competitive in the state. In Class D2, Twin Loup is ranked #6 in the preseason poll. Jensen told us that he sees Twin Loup as one of those programs that just expects to win. Twin Loup will host Anselmo-Merna to start the season on August 23rd. Mullen is preseason ranked #4 in the D2 poll. the Broncos are coming off a state semifinal appearance last year and appear poised to make another run toward the title this season. The Broncos will host Hemingford in their season opener on August 24th.
