Nebraska High School rodeo contestants competed at the Nuckolls County high school rodeo in Nelson on Saturday and Sunday. Among the area highlights on Saturday, Gracey Rodocker-Peters of Taylor won the barrel racing in a time of 15.447. Cooper Bass of Brewster won the boys cutting with a score of 73. Dane Pokorny of Stapleton won the steer wrestling on Saturday with a time of 4.44 seconds and Sid Miller of Merna won the tie down roping with a time of 10.45 seconds.
On Sunday, Spencer DeNaeyer of Seneca won the bareback riding with a score of 74. Whitney Jennings of Seneca and Gracyn Hicks of Burwell tied for first in the girls cutting with a score of 72 and Dawson Doggett of Stapleton was the steer wrestling champion in a time of 5.43 seconds.
On Monday, high school rodeo contestants gathered at the State Fair in Grand Island. Zane Kreikemeier of Callaway won the tie down roping Monday with a winning time of 10.77.
