The SEM Mustangs saw their season come to an end Friday as they fell to Parkview Christian of Lincoln in the six man football state semifinals 40-22. SEM defeated Parkview Christian in the regular season back on September 9th 20-16 but this time Parkview Christian would come out on top. The Patriots were led by running back Chandler Page who had a huge game rushing for just over 300 yards and 5 touchdowns. Parkview Christian led 19-0 at halftime but SEM would fight back in the second half. SEM got on the board with 4:13 left in the third quarter on a 3 yard touchdown run by Maddox Jones to make the score 19-6. Then the two teams would start to exchange touchdowns. After Parkview Christian’s Chandler Page scored on a 54 yard touchdown run, SEM’s Kellen Eggleston broke loose for a 65 yard touchdown run to make the score 25-14. Parkview Christian responded with another Chandler Page touchdown run but on the ensuing kickoff Kellen Eggleston broke loose again for a 75 yard kickoff return for a touchdown to make the score 33-22. SEM was given an opportunity to get closer when the Mustangs recovered a Parkview Christian fumble in Patriots territory but could not capitalize. Parkview Christian was able to put together another touchdown scoring drive late in the game to make the final score 40-22. Parkview Christian advances to the six man state championship game where they will face Pawnee City. Pawnee City won a shootout over Arthur County 66-54. The six man championship will be played on November 18th in Kearney. SEM concludes the season at 10-1.
