The Twin Loup Wolves won their 2nd in a row and put themselves in position for a Class D2 playoff berth with a 40-26 win over O’Neill St. Mary’s Thursday night. The game was back and forth through the first half with Twin Loup holding a 25-20 lead at the half. In the 2nd half, the Wolves scored on a 42 yard touchdown run by Cooper Coons to take a 33-20 lead with 1:10 left in the 3rd quarter. St. Mary’s would score on a 13 yard touchdown run by quarterback Aidan Hedstrom with 9:57 left in the 4th to make the score 33-26 but 13 seconds later Twin Loup’s Dylan Osborn would connect with Cooper Coons on a swing pass that went for 65 yards and a touchdown to put Twin Loup up by 14. Twin Loup’s defense came up with a 4th down stop late in the game as St. Mary’s was threatening to score to preserve the win. Dylan Osborn finished with 3 touchdown passes for the Wolves and Colby Coons ran for 2 touchdowns. Twin Loup improves to 3-5 on the season.
