The Broken Bow girls basketball team set a new school record for wins in a season Friday night when they collected win #21. Bow improved to 21-2 with a 60-30 win over Cozad. The win also ran the Lady Indians’ home winning streak to 21. Broken Bow had 11 players score in the game and were led by Kailyn Scott who finished with a team high 12. The Broken Bow boys then made it a sweep with a thrilling 47-44 win over the Haymakers. Bow trailed by 9 at the end of the first quarter but held Cozad to just three points in the second quarter to come back and lead by one at the half. With Broken Bow leading 45-44 and under a minute to go, Blake Denson was fouled and went to the free throw line for a one and one opportunity. Denson would make both free throw attempts to put Bow up by three. Cozad had a chance to tie but a three point attempt by Cozad’s Jacob Engel rattled out in the final seconds as Broken Bow held on for the victory. Morgan McMeen led Broken Bow with a team high 11 points. After waiting until January 24th to pick up their first win of the season, the Indians have now won 4 of their last 7.
Anselmo-Merna and Ansley/Litchfield split a doubleheader Friday night. The Lady Coyotes picked up their 12th win of the season as they defeated the Lady Spartans 43-23. A-M was led by Jaide Chandler with 13 points while Taylor Haines led the way for A/L with 7. Ansley/Litchfield boys improved to 16-6 on the season as they defeated Anselmo-Merna 60-43. A/L was led by Jeff Cunnigham with 18 points while A-M was led by Jace Leibhart with 17.
