The South Loup girls and boys basketball teams each picked up wins Thursday night over Sandhills/Thedford. The South Loup girls picked up their fourth win of the season by holding off Sandhills/Thedford 29-19 in a low scoring defensive game. South Loup led by as many as 13 but Sandhills/Thedford fought back in the third quarter to cut the lead to five but Ava Pandorf hit a three in the final five seconds of the quarter to put the South Loup lead up to eight going into the fourth. The Lady Bobcats were able to hit free throws down the stretch to secure the win. The Lady Bobcats were led by Brynn Schwarz who led all scorers with 11 points. Sandhills/Thedford was led by Tenley Rasmussen and Dayle Haake who each finished with 6 points to lead the Lady Knights. The South Loup boys collected a 58-33 win over Sandhills/Thedford. South Loup led 9-8 after the first quarter but extended the lead to ten at the half. The Bobcats pulled away in the second half to improve to 7-1 on the season. The Bobcats were led by Cache Gracey who led all scorers with 16 points and Kyle Cox led the Knights with a team high 11 points.
