Arcadia/Loup City hosted South Loup for a girls and boys basketball doubleheader Tuesday night in Arcadia. In the boys game, Arcadia/Loup City collected its fifth win of the season and handed South Loup just its second loss of the season. The game was a thriller that went to overtime. Arcadia/Loup City led 40-32 after three quarters but South Loup opened the fourth quarter with an 11-0 run to take the lead 43-40. ALC’s Ryan Kaslon hit a 3 from the corner to tie the game at 43-43. The teams exchanged baskets down the stretch of regulation and the game went to overtime tied at 48-48. In overtime, Parker Slobaszewski scored 7 of his 13 in the extra period and ALC outscored South Loup 13-5 in overtime to claim the victory 61-53. The three point shot was huge for the Rebels as they knocked twelve of them in the game. Arcadia/Loup City had four players finish in double figures led by Conner Slobaszewski who connected on five 3’s to finish with a team high 15 points. Eli Jaixen made four 3’s and finished with 14 points. Ryan Kaslon also finished in double figures with 10. South Loup was led by Trey Connell who had a game high 21 points and Cache Gracey also finished in double figures for the Bobcats with 12.
In the girls game, Arcadia/Loup City collected its third win of the season by knocking off South Loup 56-29. South Loup trailed 15-11 in the early part of the 2nd quarter but ALC closed the quarter on a 22-1 run to help secure the win. ALC had three players finish in double figures led by Nicole Chilewski who had a team high 14 points. Olivia Fitzgerald scored 13 points and Brianna Lueck finished with 12 for the Rebels. Bryn Schwarz led South Loup with a game high 17 points.
