Girls State Tournament Wrap Up

The Nebraska high school girls basketball season came to a conclusion on Saturday as the NSAA girls state tournament came to an end. The Mullen Lady Broncos conclude the season at 26-3 and placed 4th at the state tournament. Mullen opened the tournament Thursday with a 60-54 win over Bruning Davenport Shickley for their first state tournament win in school history. Mullen then fell to Humphrey St Francis on Friday in the semifinals and then lost to Falls City Sacred Heart 59-36 in the third place consolation game. Samantha Moore had a team high 15 for Mullen in Saturday’s consolation game. Moore was also named to the Class D2 all tournament team. Wynot was crowned the D2 champion defeating Humphrey St. Francis 59-51 in Saturday’s title game.

Pleasanton won its first girls state basketball championship Saturday with a 47-38 win over Archbishop Bergan on Saturday. Pleasanton capped off an undefeated season finishing 28-0. The Lady Bulldogs shot 45% from the field in the championship game with three players finishing in double figures. Katelyn Lindner and Natalie Sigel each scored 14 and Kaci Pierce had 11. All three were selected to the Class D1 all tournament team. In the D1 consolation game, Chambers Wheeler Central defeated Hartington CC 66-54.
