Girls State Golf Tournaments Stopped Early Due to Weather – Broken Bow’s Kailey Johnson Finishes 5th in Class C

The 2018 NSAA girls state golf championships were shortened thanks to Mother Nature. The Class A and B tournaments made the decision to not play the second round today. The final round of the Class C tournament at River’s Edge Golf Course in North Platte was allowed to start today as scheduled. All groups got on the course to start their round but as the weather conditions worsened the decision was made to halt play and cancel the remainder of the round. Therefore, final results for all classes were based on the scores from yesterday’s round which was played to completion. Therefore, Kailey Johnson of Broken Bow finishes tied for 5th Class C. Johnson shot a round of 88 yesterday. Harley Hiltebrand of Ogallala and Kenzey Kanno of Mitchell tied for the Class C individual title as each carded an 83 yesterday. Cozad and Ogallala tied for first in the team standings. The Class B individual title went to Anna Boor of Omaha Duchesne who shot a 2 over par 74 yesterday. The Class B team title went to Omaha Duchesne with a team score of 330. In Class A, Jalea Culliver of Omaha Marian and Kaitlyn Hanna of Omaha Westside tied for the individual title with a 4 over par 76. Lincoln Southwest was the team champion with a 341.
