Fort Kearny Conference Wins New West All Star Classic Volleyball Tournament

The New West All Star Classic hosted its all star volleyball matches Thursday night in Minden.  Proceeds from the event go to benefit the Nebraska Kidney Association.  Athletes from the Fort Kearny Conference, Southwest Conference, Lou Platte Conference, and the Republican Plains Athletic Conference competed against one another.  The Fort Kearny Conference advanced past the RPAC in the first round and the Southwest Conference defeated the Lou Platte Conference in the opening round.  In the championship match, the SWC took the first set over the FKC 25-22 but the FKC came back to win the second set 25-8 and then won the decisive third set 25-20.  The Lou Platte Conference won the consolation match over the RPAC by scores of 25-11, 25-20.  Isabelle Paitz of Pleasanton was named the event’s most valuable player.

Broken Bow was represented on the Southwest Conference all star team by players Kali Staples, Emma Schall, Halle Jacobsen, Cami Schweitzer, and Kassidy Cyboron.

 

The New West All Star Classic continues tonight with the same four conferences competing against one another in girls and boys basketball.  Girls games will tip off at 5 p.m. with the boys to follow.  Matchups will feature the  Southwest Conference vs Lou Platte Conference and FKC vs RPAC.  Kali Staples and Kassidy Cyboron of Broken Bow will be among those playing for the girls SWC all stars.  On the boys side, Broken Bow’s Dylan Baum will be on the SWC roster and Drew Lewandowski of Arcadia/Loup City will suit up for the Lou Platte all stars.  Tycen Bailey and Jeff Cunningham of Ansley/Litchfield as well as Carson Rohde of SEM will be among the area athletes competing for the Fort Kearny Conference all stars.
