Football Scores – Broken Bow Upsets Cozad – Sandhills/Thedford Wins District Title Over Pleasanton

The Broken Bow Indians picked up their third win of the season by knocking off top ten ranked Cozad 28-12.  The Haymakers were 6-1 coming into the game but struggled getting their offense moving.  After the two teams exchanged turnovers to start the game, Broken Bow marched 31 yards for the opening score of the game as Frazier Kaelin scored on a 3 yard touchdown run.  Cozad would respond when Nolan Wetovick connected with Cord Chytka on a 20 yard touchdown pass to tie the game at 6-6.  Bow came right back with an 80 yard drive capped off by a 6 yard touchdown pass from Blake Denson to Austin Harvey to make the score 14-6.  Denson would connect with Harvey again on the final play of the first half which made the score 22-6 in the first half.  Bow added another score early in the 4th quarter on a 3 yard touchdown run by Frazier Kaelin to go up 28-6.  Cozad made the score 28-12 with 3:51 left in the game but would get no closer as Broken Bow improved their overall record to 3-5.  Broken Bow will close out the regular season at home Friday when they host Minden.

The Arcadia/Loup City Rebels improved to 5-3 with a 38-0 win over Anselmo-Merna on Friday.  ALC’s Jadyn Scott had three touchdown runs and a touchdown pass and Drew Lewandowski had two touchdown receptions for the Rebels.  AM finishes the regular season at 4-4.

In a battle of unbeatens, Sandhills/Thedford ran over Pleasanton to claim the D2-9 district title on Friday.  The Knights rolled to a 77-24 victory. In other area action Ansley/Litchfield defeated Sandhills/Valley to improve to 5-3.
