First Ever Girls Basketball Showcase to Take Place in Broken Bow on Saturday

The first ever girls basketball showcase will take place Saturday in Broken Bow. The concept for the event came from Broken Bow girls head basketball coach Kelly Cooksley. The games were originally to be played on the campus of the University of Nebraska at Kearney but because of COVID will now be hosted by Broken Bow at the Indian gym. Cooksley praised the administration of all schools and teams involved for their support and making this event a reality especially under the current circumstances.

Coach Cooksley told KCNI/KBBN sports that the idea came from him attending the Heartland Hoops Classic in Grand Island which spotlights some of the top boys basketball teams in the state as well as the nation.

The day features four marquee matchups.  Cooksley talked about the matchups and how they came to be.

Central Nebraska’s Sports Source will present a live video stream of all four games from the showcase with play by play and color from KCNI/KBBN sports director Brent Apperson along with announcers Jeremy Shipe and Gavin Higgins.  The Mullen and Broken Bow games will also be broadcast on KBBN 95.3 FM and kbbn.com.  The live video stream can be accessed through the Sandhills Express Facebook page ; Twitter @KBBNsports ; and on the KCNI/KBBN You Tube page
