Fall Sports Preview – Arcadia/Loup City Football

Today Central Nebraska’s Sports Source continues with its fall sports previews as we spotlight the Arcadia/Loup City football team.  The Rebels have enjoyed a lot of success the last few years making the quarterfinal round of the state playoffs each of the last three seasons.  ALC finished 7-1 in the regular season last year and were D1-8 district champs.  The identity of the Rebels in recent years has been the power running game and big offensive line.  Head coach Mike Scott told KCNI/KBBN sports that this year’s team will look a little different but believes the pieces are there to have another strong season.

Because of health and other factors coach Scott said that there hasn’t really been an opportunity yet in fall camp to get all of the key pieces on the field at the same time.  In spite of that, he has been very pleased with the progress that has been made.

The Rebels will once again compete in the D1-8 district this year but the makeup of the district will look a bit different than the last two years.  Burwell is back in the district as is Amherst but newcomers include Anselmo-Merna and Ravenna.  ALC will begin the season by hosting Elm Creek August 28th.  The Rebels will be featured on the KBBN game of the week October 16th when they host Anselmo-Merna.
