Class D District Track Scheduled for Today

Several area athletes will attempt to qualify today for next week’s state track and field championships in Omaha.

Ansley/Litchfield will host the D-5 district at Mark Russell Field in Broken Bow today. Teams competing include : Ansley/Litchfield, Anselmo-Merna, Central Valley, Elba, Heartland Lutheran, Overton, Pleasanton, Shelton, Spalding Academy, SEM, and Twin Loup. The D-8 district meet will take place in Grant hosted by Perkins County. Teams competing include : Brady, Maxwell, McPherson County, Mullen, North Platte St. Pat’s, Paxton, Perkins County, Sandhills/Thedford, Stapleton, Sutherland, and Wallace

Class D is divided into 9 districts. The winners of the first two places and the next six fastest times regardless of place in each individual running event will qualify for the state meet. In the field events, the first two places will qualify for the state meet as well as though who reach or clear the automatic qualifying standard set by the NSAA. The winners of the relay events will automatically qualify plus the seven fastest times of the non-qualifiers regardless of place.
