CWCE Shuts Down Kenesaw

KENESAW – Chambers/Wheeler Central/Ewing was able to do what no team has done all season long, defeat Kenesaw.

The Renegades defense shutdown the Blue Devils 27-7 on Wednesday afternoon to advance to the quarterfinals.

Ross Gribble opened up the scoring for CWCE with a four-yard run with 4:37 remaining in the first quarter, but the Blue Devils would tie things up before halftime. On fourth down Taylor Pulver connected with Tyson Burr on a screen pass that the senior took 22 yards to the end zone. CWCE would respond just 24 second later with Daniel Libolt busting up the middle for a 36-yard score after the ensuing kickoff to give the Renegades a 14-7 halftime lead.

After a scoreless third period Carter Croxen hit Ethan Naughtin for a 62-yard strike on the first play of the fourth quarter. The pair would connect again with under a minute to play to give CWCE the 27-7 victory.

Kenesaw’s season ends at 9-1 while the Renegades face South Loup on Tuesday.
