Custer County DYO Board Announces Cancellation of Season for 10 & under Teams

In a statement released by the Custer County DYO (Diamond Youth Organization) Board, the decision has been made to cancel the 2020 season for 10 & under baseball and 10 & under softball.  According to the statement, “After further discussion regarding the governor’s guidelines for youth sports this summer, and the fact the we have lost numerous boys and girls in the 10U age group, the board of the Custer County DYO regretfully announces the cancellation of the 2020 season for 10U baseball and 10U softball.”

The statement went on to say that the board felt given the shortened season, the guidelines that have been set forth, and difficulty with young children fully grasping the necessity of the guidelines it was the safest choice for “our youngest players” to not have a season.  It was announced earlier by the board to not have tee ball and coach pitch for ages 5-6 and 7-8.

The following age groups are still planning to play a shortened season under the administered guidelines and can start practice today (June 1st)
