Creighton Edges Burwell in Class D1 Title Game and Omaha Burke Wins Class A Title

Creighton edged Burwell Monday in a thrilling Class D1 state football championship. Burwell took the lead at 30-26 early in the 4th quarter but Bryce Zimmerer of Creighton scored his 2nd of two touchdowns on the day with 4:04 left in the game and the Creighton Bulldogs held on for a 32-30 win. Zimmerer finished the game with 320 rushing yards on 54 carries. Equally impressive was Burwell’s Jase Williams who finished the game with 193 rushing yards on 33 carries. Burwell finishes the season at 12-1 and claims the Class D1 runner-up trophy.

Omaha Burke completed an undefeated season by edging Grand Island in the Class A championship game Monday night. Burke won 24-20 as Grand Island finishes the season at 10-3.
