Burwell Advances to Class D1 State Championship Football Game

The Burwell Longhorns will play for the D1 state football championship next week.  The Longhorns pulled away late from Dundy County Stratton yesterday in the Class D1 semifinals to secure their 4th appearance in the state title game in the last 5 seasons.  Burwell defeated the Tigers 28-10.  Burwell will face Osceola High Plains for the D1 championship.  Osceola High Plains defeated Cross County 34-30 and will be making their first state championship appearance.  The D1 championship will be Monday at 10:15 AM at Memorial Stadium.

Pleasanton is headed to Lincoln to play for the D2 championship.  The Bulldogs defeated Overton in a low scoring affair 12-6.  Pleasanton will play undefeated Humphrey St. Francis for the D2 title.  St. Francis defeated Falls City Sacred Heart in the semifinals 24-16.  The D2 title game will take place Monday afternoon at 2:45 in Lincoln.
