Broken Bow’s Kailey Johnson Tied for 5th After First Day of Class C Girls State Golf

Day one of the 2018 NSAA Girls State Golf Championships began yesterday. The Class C state tournament is being played at River’s Edge Golf Course in North Platte. Broken Bow’s Kailey Johnson is currently tied for 5th after the first day of competition. Johnson battled through the adverse weather conditions to shoot an opening round of 88. Johnson shot a 47 on the front nine and then bettered that with a 41 on the back. Johnson is just 5 shots behind the leader who was Harley Hiltibrand of Ogallala who shot a low opening round of 83. Johnson is scheduled to tee off at 11:22 this morning for her final round. Southwest Conference schools Cozad and Ogallala are tied for the team lead after day one as each shot a team total 390. Mitchell is in third with a 395 and Kearney Catholic currently sits 4th with a 397.
