Broken Bow Wrestling Competes at SWC Championships Today

The Broken Bow wrestling team will travel to Ogallala today for the Southwest Conference wrestling championships. The Indians will be joined today by Valentine, McCook, Cozad, Gothenburg, Ainsworth, Ogallala, and Minden. Today’s meet will feature some of the best wrestlers in the state in their respective class. The conference features 5 individuals who are ranked at the top of their class in their respective weight division according to rankings put out by NEwrestle.com. Four of the five suit up for Valentine including Chris Williams (126), Gage Krolikowski (138), Morgan Mcginley (145), and Chase Olson (160). The other is Broken Bow’s Lathan Duda who is still undefeated this season and ranked #1 in Class C at 182 lbs.

Valentine is ranked #1 in the Class C team rankings and will be the favorite to win today’s meet but it appears to be wide open after that. Broken Bow is coming off a very strong week that saw them defeat Ogallala 38-36 in a dual and claim the team title at the Ord Invite. Broken Bow head wrestling coach Ed Schaaf told KCNI/KBBN sports that their mindset for today is what it always is and that is control what you can control and just go out and wrestle.

Matches are scheduled to begin at noon (central time)
