The Broken Bow boys cross country team claimed its second straight Southwest Conference Cross Country championship on Thursday at McCook. It was also a strong day for the Broken Bow girls team which claimed the runner-up trophy finishing tied for second with McCook just three points behind champion Minden.
The Broken Bow boys were led by Noah Osmond who finished third in a time of 18:19.26. Daine Wardyn placed 6th (18:26.28) and Jesse Gallian was 7th (18:27.75). Trey Hurlburt also placed in the top ten finishing 9th (18:41.19). The boys individual champion was Ty Schlueter of Ainsworth in a winning time of 17:21.57. Zane Eggleston of Broken Bow placed in the top 20 placing 19th (19:23.67).
On the girls side, Broken Bow was led by Makinley Tobey who finished 7th overall in a time of 22:29.69. Broken Bow had four runners in all place in the top 15. Gracie Hackel was 11th (22:59.56), Anna Lindstrom was 12th (23:00.53), and Cassidy Schweitzer was 14th (23:13.83). The girls individual champion was Samantha Rodewald of McCook in a winning time of 20:32.31. Chelsea Royle of Broken Bow placed in the top 25 finishing 24th (25:13.68).
