Broken Bow to Host and Compete at B-5 District Track Championships Today

Broken Bow will be the host of today’s B-5 district track and field championships today at Mark Russell Field.  Athletes will attempt to qualify for the NSAA state track and field championships which are scheduled for May 18th and 19th at Burke Stadium in Omaha.  The top three places in all individual running events will qualify for state plus the next six fastest times of the non qualifiers state wide.  The top two places in all relays will automatically qualify for state plus the next four fastest times of all non qualifiers.  The top three places of the following field events, long jump, triple jump, shot put, and discus, will qualify for state plus the next six best performances of the non qualifiers across all districts.  The top three places in the pole vault and high jump will qualify for state plus all who equal or surpass the additional qualifier mark.  The automatic qualifying marks are as follows – Girls pole vault 9’10”, Girls high jump 5’1″, Boys pole vault 13’2″, Boys high jump 6’3″.

Joining Broken Bow in today’s district championships will be Adams Central, Aurora, Central City, Hastings, Holdrege, Kearney Catholic, Minden, Northwest, and St. Paul.
