Broken Bow Sweeps Lexington Legion to Start Legion Baseball Season

The Broken Bow American Legion Juniors and Seniors began their baseball seasons over the weekend.  The Bow Juniors began their season in impressive fashion defeating Heartland Chevrolet of Lexington 21-3 in five innings on Saturday.  The Bow Juniors’ bats were hot right away as they scored 10 runs in their first at bat and ended up scoring in every inning.  Zach Loy was a perfect 4 for 4 at the plate with 3 runs scored.  Eli Coble was 3 for 4 in the leadoff spot with 4 runs scored and Max Denson was 3 for 4 highlighted by a homerun in his first at bat, a triple, and 5 runs batted in.  Denson picked up the win on the mound pitching four innings giving up 3 runs on 2 hits and striking out 9.  The Bow juniors will host Overton for a juniors only doubleheader on Sunday at Paul Brown Field.

The Bow seniors met the Lexington Legion Seniors Saturday for their season opener.  Bow built a 10-4 lead after four innings then held on for a 10-7 win.  Max Denson led the offensive attack going 4 for 5 with four runs batted in.  After hitting a home run in the juniors game earlier, Denson sent another one out of the park in his first at bat in the seniors game.  It was a three run shot to give Bow the early lead.  Brody Ridder also had a multi hit game finishing 2 for 4 with a run scored and one run batted in.  Caden Holm started the game on the mound and picked up the win giving up 3 runs on 3 hits and striking out 7.  Hagen Campbell entered the game and threw 3 innings of relief and Sawyer Bumgarner pitched the 7th to close out the game.  The Bow seniors will play their home opener Tuesday night against St. Paul.  The game will be broadcast on KBBN 95.3 FM.
