Broken Bow Spirit Softball Teams Fall to Sandhills Sharks

The Broken Bow Spirit Blue and White softball teams each fell to the Sandhills Sharks Tuesday night at Tyke Arnold Field.

The Spirit White suffered its first loss of the season by a score of 5-2.  The Spirit out hit the Sharks 9-8 but could only plate 2 runs.  Bow’s runs came in the 2nd and 4th innings.  Sandhills scored 2 in the first, 2 in the fourth, and one more in the sixth to secure the win.  Mya Weverka started in the circle for the Spirit.  Weverka went 4 innings giving up 4 runs on 6 hits.  Kate Holcomb helped lead the way offensively for Broken Bow going 2 for 3 with 1 RBI and 1 run scored.  The Spirit White is now 3-1 on the season.

Sandhills completed the doubleheader sweep by downing the Spirit Blue team 9-1.  Sandhills led 1-0 after three innings but then saw the bats heat up scoring 3 runs in the fourth, 2 in the fifth, then 3 more in the sixth to put the game away.  The Spirit bats were held in check by Sandhills pitching as Bow finished with just one run on two hits.  Venessa Coleman drove in the lone run for the Spirit Blue.
