Broken Bow Spirit Softball Team Picks Up First Wins of the Season

The Broken Bow Spirit (16U/18U) softball team picked up its first wins of the season this past weekend.  The Bow Spirit picked up two wins on Sunday.  The Spirit defeated the Aftershock 18U team 7-2.  Broken Bow jumped out to a 5-0 lead thanks to a four run third inning.  Laney Holcomb picked up the win in the circle giving up two runs on seven hits and striking out five in four innings of work.  Cassidy Schweitzer was 1 for 2 with 2 runs scored and Keelyn Shea was 1 for 3 with 2 runs batted in to help lead the Spirit offense.

The Spirit’s other with win on Sunday came in a 12-2 victory.  The Spirit scored in every inning of the four inning contest and pounded out 12 hits in the game.  Cassidy Schweitzer and Dani Claflin each pitched two innings in the circle with each giving up just one run.  Schweitzer had three strikeouts in the game and Claflin finished with two.  Schweitzer also had a big game at the plate finishing 3 for 3 highlighted by a triple, 2 runs scored, and 3 runs batted in.  Adyson Priest was also 3 for 3 with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI.

The Bow Spirit are now 2-7 on the season.
