The Broken Bow Spirit 18 and under girls softball team dropped both games of a doubleheader against Gibbon on Thursday night. In game one, Gibbon jumped out quick scoring 7 runs in their first bat. The Spirit answered with 4 runs in the bottom of the first but that would be all Bow would score as Gibbon went on to win by a final of 8-4. Mattie Bumgarner and Emily Trotter each had multiple hit efforts to lead the Spirit offense with Bumgarner going 3 for 3.
In game 2, it was a back and forth affair. Broken Bow took the early lead with 3 runs in the top of the first but Gibbon answered with 4 runs in the bottom of the inning. The Spirit would retake the lead with 2 runs in the second only to see Gibbon answer with 4 more in the bottom of the 2nd and hang on to win by a final of 8-6.
