The Broken Bow Spirit 16U softball team continued play at state in Hastings on Saturday. After dropping their opening game on Friday, the Spirit came back with 2 wins on Saturday. In their first game of the day, Bow defeated the “Flames”. Bow jumped out to a 6-0 lead after the first two innings and then survived a 5 run fourth inning by the Flames as the Spirit went on to claim a 9-5 win. Bow had 7 hits in the game and were led by Joscelyn Coleman who finished 3 for 3.
In the second game of the day, the Spirit shutout Wausa 2-0. Broken Bow scored a run in the first and another in the fifth and that was enough for pitcher Kaylee Peterson. Peterson surrendered just one hit and struck out 6 on her way to pitching a complete game shutout.
The Spirit continue play on Sunday.
