Broken Bow Spirit 16U Softball Team Goes 2-2 and Places 7th at State Tournament

The Broken Bow Spirit 16U softball team went 2-2 and placed 7th overall at the state tournament in Hastings over the weekend. The Spirit dropped their opening game of the tournament on Friday evening to the Blue Springs Lightning 6-4. Bow bounced back on Saturday picking up wins over the “Flames” 9-5 and shutting out Wausa 2-0. The Spirit would then see their tournament run end on Saturday night as they lost to eventual tournament champion Palmyra 6-3. Broken Bow scored three runs in the first inning and led 3-2 after 5 innings but Palmyra put together a big 6th inning scoring 4 runs to secure the come from behind win. Broken Bow had six hits in the game and were led by Joscelyn Coleman who was 2 for 3 in the game. Coach Ryan Coleman told KCNI/KBBN Sports that the girls played very well during the tournament and went toe to toe with the team that ended up winning it all.
